Play the Scene You're In
In an improv scene we only have the moment we are in. We cannot predict what will happen in the scene, nor does thinking about the past or future help us. So, we just play the scene we’re in.
In an improv scene we only have the moment we are in. We cannot predict what will happen in the scene, nor does thinking about the past help us. We play the scene we’re in, being present and paying attention to each moment as it’s happening. That allows us to listen and connect with ourselves, our scene partners, and the scene situation.
In life, the present moment is all you have. Sure, you can still have goals for the future and memories from the past. But now is the only time that is happening at this moment. You can’t change the past or skip ahead to the future. Now is the only time you can take action.
Play the scene you’re in. Notice what’s happening moment by moment. Be present, now. Make yourself available to the moment you’re in. By being present today, playing the scene you’re in today. All you have is this scene now.
